Hollywood Hospital was built during World War II to treat returning casualties. It was an Army-run resource until 1947.
The Veteran Affairs Department then took on responsibility for the 'repat' hospital and in 1994 private operator Ramsay Health Care bought it, with fewer veterans needing the treatment.
