This book was commissioned by the Shire of Gingin in 1975 and was designed to compliment Neergabby, a history of the north-eastern parts of the Shire.

This volume outlines the European settlement and economic and social development of the Shire, including Beermullah and the Town of Gingin, and traces the families of the earliest European settlers.

A section dealing with the geology and geography of the area has been included.
