Over the last 50 years, Vincent Serventy (1916-2007) has campaigned, lobbied, filmed, written and spoken to preserve Australia's wildlife and environments, including Sydney Harbour, the Great Barrier Reef, Lake Eyre and Lake Pedder. This passion has earned him many titles, the father of conservation being the best known.
He has travelled worldwide, from Antarctica and Africa to India, and across the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Among his friends have been fellow scientists, artists, politicians, and conservationists, including David Williamson and John Olsen, Spike Milligan and Gough Whitlam and Jill and Neville Wran. It has been a fascinating and exciting life.
Chapters include his early life, memories of the West, the sixties, life in Sydney, and others.
