Dryandra is a 500,000-acre tract of savannah and woodland near Narrogin. This state forest was set aside originally for mallett trees, used for tannin production, but has served as a sanctuary for many native animals and plants, in an area almost entirely given over to wheat and pasture land. (The Canberra Times 26 December 1970)
