Much has happened to the Blackwood River since the European settlement of Western Australia. Agriculture, forestry and mining have, to varying degrees, left their mark on the river and its environs.
This booklet sketches the changes over the 19th and 20th centuries to both the landscape and inhabitants of the Blackwood Valley, the area where the Blackwood meets the Darling Scarp. This region encompasses much of the countryside situated in the triangle formed by Balingup, Bridgetown and Nannup.
