Frank Woerle - crocodile hunter, pearl diver, buffalo shooter and ranger - has spent over 35 years in Australia's Northern Territory. He came to the Territory to escape a Europe still suffering from the consequences of the Second World War and found a simple, honest lifestyle in a harsh land that had hardly been touched by the twentieth century. Since then, he has got to know the people, the animals and the bush in one of the world's remote areas.
Ranger's Territory is the story of his life. And what a life! He has survived a stampede of crocodiles, a mine explosion, snake bite and being charged by buffalo and wild pig: he has surveyed beef roads, prospected for uranium, shot buffalo and recorded Aboriginal rock paintings.
Frank Woerle's life has also been one of passionate conviction, of work to save at least part of Australia's Top End as a heritage for future generations. (back cover)
