Bonnie Hutchins-Lothians was born in 1930 in Nannup to Margaret and Charles Hutchins. She was the fourteenth of fifteen children. When Bonnie was very young, the family moved to Perth and lived in Subiaco. They soon returned south west, with her father gaining employment in Busselton.
In 1937, Bonnie and three of her sisters were taken from Busselton to Perth, to an orphanage, with the Childrenâs Court signing the children over to the Child Welfare Department. In this memoir, Bonnie tells the story of living as an orphan in Perth during the 1930s and 1940s.
