Landlords of the Iron Shore is a detailed record of the customs, language, and culture of the Indigenous people of Western Australia's North-West (Pilbara) region, recorded from firsthand experiences between 1876 and 1885
J.S. Durlacher was an early Pilbara pastoralist. He compiled his observations from memory and records in September 1900. The manuscript was lost for over a century until it was recovered and published in 2013.
It includes an introductory commentary by historian Dr Peter Gifford, along with sketches and a vocabulary of North-West native words.
