The story of the first 50 years of the Country Women's Association of Western Australia, formed to improve the welfare of women and families in rural and regional areas.
Initial branches were founded in 1924 (Bolgart, Nungarin, Bemjaberring and the Metropolitan area), before the first conference was held in 1925, where the framework of the new association as an incorporated body was laid down. By 1934, there were 124 branches, 26 with rest rooms. A small number of branches lived very happily in rooms attached to local halls, Shire or Church buildings. Others had bought or been given buildings that had to be moved.
Includes information on school hostels, choirs, handicrafts, the State Drama Contest, seaside cottages and elderly member homes, holiday camps, details of branches and state officers for the first 50 years.
