Book Description
Secondhand. Very good condition. Minor wear to book corners and edges. Light foxing to top foredge. Interior and binding are still excellent.
Traces the early Western Australian police force from its inception to the 1890s, emphasising the men who served in it. This book does not purport to be a definitive history of the West Australian police force; rather, it is to be regarded as a backdrop for the men who served in it.
An anecdotal style is used as incidents taken directly from police occurrences and letter books sometimes provide a more precise and memorable picture of contemporary conditions than the bare statement of facts. Where possible, the names of serving policemen have been included. Still, records of the early years are sometimes scanty, individual names being omitted or shown with incorrect initials and suspect spelling. (Introduction)
