The story of Bayley and Ford finding gold at Coolgardie is well known. The partners rode 120 miles to Southern Cross and lodged their claim on September 17, 1892.
Coolgardie soon grew from a hessian encampment to a solid, large town with well-built streets lined with handsome buildings. Coolgardie became world famous and attracted people from the eastern colonies and all parts of the globe. As the alluvial gold became scarce, men searched further afield. As gold was found, new towns and settlements grew.
This booklet includes stories and part of the history of towns that once existed around Collgardie - Londonderry, Burbanks, Kunanalling, Kintore, Carbine, Dunesville, and Bonnievale.
