Little evidence remains of Bridgetown's fascinating early history. These days people in Bridgetown often rely on tourism for income. The hopes and dreams of many who pioneered the area starting up the grazing industry, those who worked the apple orchards and the timber workers are fading from memory.
There is little to remind us of the first Indigenous inhabitants or to indicate the hardships faced by the early settlers. The thriving timber and fruity industries at the beginning of the 20th century have all but vanished.
This book attempts to help readers appreciate Bridgetown's rich past and to keep alive memories of those whose lives have been played out on this land. (back cover)
