Book Description

Secondhand. Good condition. Wear to book corners and edges. Faint mark on right foredge. Inscribed by Rita Huggins.

Rita Huggins was stolen from the ancestral home of the Bidjara-Pitjara people, Carnarvon Gorge, Queensland, as a child in the 1920s and taken to the Cherbourg Barambah Aboriginal Reserve.

This book is Rita's story, as told to her daughter Jackie. It traces Rita's life from imprisonment under the Aborigines Protection Act, becoming a parent in the 1960s and the rise of Aboriginal political organisations and activism.
