Originally published in 1867, this is a travelogue by Rev. John Morison, a clergyman who spent 13 years in New South Wales. It presents a first-hand account of his experiences and offers an informative, critical, and sometimes "dark" view of colonial life, covering the bush, squatting, gold-digging, sheep shepherding, droughts and floods, convictism, matrimony, political and religious developments, including the treatment of Aborigines.
Facsimile centennial edition.
