This book looks at the harsh treatment of convicts in New South Wales and the reasons why men turned to bushranging. Follows the careers of several bushrangers, in particular, Frank Gardiner, Ben Hall and Daniel Morgan, and the police inspector Sir Frederick Pottinger, who was determined to see Gardiner hanged. Shows that the social conditions of the time often caused men to turn to bushranging. (Trove)
