Doodenanning is a town within the Shire of Quairading in the Wheatbelt Region of Western Australia. Beryl Green's book was written to celebrate the 100th anniversary of European settlement.

In 1897, William Marick took land off the Doodennaing Greenhills Road. Alfred Bear and William Gault were allocated land in mid-1897. (Preface)
