This book is a social history of a Western Australian family spanning the 20th Century. It moves from the hardships of life in the Wheatbelt Region through the Depression, the Second World War, and the expanding opportunities for women in the 1950s. The first half of the book, written by Anne Rogers, focuses on the life of Ida and Battley Swift, from Sheffield, who were early settlers at East Kondut. The second half of the book contains autobiographical chapters written by Swift descendants.
