A Bushman's Apprenticeship by Jim Carson tells the story of a Perth boy lured north in pursuit of adventure. Carson undertook a variety of jobs in his apprenticeship including jackaroo, drover, and shooter.

Bush Parson by Hubert R Trenaman recreates the author's experience as a young Methodist minister in the central and northern Wheatbelt during 1929-1932.
