The wildflowers of Western Australia have excited botanists since Captain Cook's discoveries. Nowhere else in the world have conditions permitted the survival of plant life which is so immeasurably old.
This, the 14th edition of Wildflowers of Western Australia, has been completely re-illustrated, revised and redesigned, and its pictorial scope has been greatly widened by the inclusion of 355 new colour illustrations.
First published in 1959, the text was written by the late C A Gardner, who has been credited with having had a greater firsthand knowledge of Western Australia and its unique flora than any person now living. He collected botanical specimens professionally for 41 years and in doing so covered an extraordinary area of the state.
The text has been brought up to date where necessary by Mr R D Royce, who succeeded Mr Gardner as Government Botanist and Herbarium Curator.
More than 250 of the colour photographs used to illustrate this edition are by Norman Taylor.
