William Folster (1894-1954), engineer and MLA for Orange in 1932, was an avid local historian. He published articles on old Orange and its pioneers in the Leader, Advocate, and Central Western Daily newspapers.
This collection, compiled by his grandson, features articles on the early days of the Western Area, including Orange, Cadia, Canowindra, Cave Creek, Forest Reefs, Lamping Flat, Lucknow, Mandagery, Manildra, March, Millthorpe, Molong, Ophir, Parkes, Springfield, Wellington and other centres.
