Camel drivers, river skippers, shanty-keepers, blade-shearers, fossickers - these have vanished from the Australian scene and following them into the shadows are the swagmen, crocodile-shooters, buffalo-hunters, old-time drovers and many other outback types. George Farwell has worked, lived and yarned with many of these vanishing Australians. He vividly recalls all their colour and character. (book flap)
