Sir Eric Fleming Smart (1911-1973) grew up on a farm in South Australia. At 23, he arrived in Western Australia with two hundred pounds and abundant confidence with which he sowed the seed of a great farming enterprise.
Through hard work, juggling limited finances, taking risks, he amassed freehold farming property of over 100,000 acres and 105,00 sheep.
After an early death at 61, his son Peter took over the properties. He demonstrated a vigorous and innovative approach to farming and was well respected in the industry. His life was cut short when he died of a heart attack at the age of 49.
This book is the story of their farming careers and the loyal and dedicated people who worked with them from Miling to Wongan Hills, Erregulla Springs and Erregulla Plains, Mingenew.
