Keith Garvey was born in 1922 in Frog Hollow, Moree, New South Wales. He was the youngest son to an Irish-born grazier and a bullock-driving woman of convict stock.
When he was seven, the family moved to the small village of Pallamallawa, where he spent most of his life. Garvey was a shearer, drover, bush-worker, horse trainer, bookmaker, cattle dealer and horse breaker. (back cover)
His poetry and short stories vividly portray life in an earlier era's shearing sheds and cattle camps. (Austlit.edu.au)
