The book documents the life of Sarah Theodosia Hall (née Branson) (1793–1858), an early pioneer of the Swan River and Mandurah. She was a strong-willed pioneer who navigated the immense hardships of early colonial life.
It traces the family's journey from Shackerstone Manor in England to their settlement in the Swan River Colony in 1830, and later to Mandurah in Western Australia. Halls Head is named in her honour.
It also tracks her seven children, who married into other prominent early settler dynasties. This includes her son, notable North-West explorer and pastoralist William Shakespeare Hall, and connections to the family of Thomas Peel.
Features illustrations, maps, and a family tree.
