During World War 2, eight West Australian towns were targeted in Japanese air raids and attacks. Today, towns such as Exmouth, Broome, Port Hedland and Derby are more readily identified as holiday or fishing destinations, but between 1942 and 1943, they were on the front line of attack. This book thoroughly examines each raid, town by town, from first-hand historical accounts and documented evidence.

Also covered are Japanese naval operations off the immediate WA coastline and in the Southern Ocean, along with accounts of Allied attempts to stem the enemy threat with the construction of secret airstrips such as Corunna Downs and Cunderdin.
