Thelma Atkins was born near Quindanning in 1914, the third daughter of a farmer. The family farm was on the Coolakin Gully. While her father battled for twenty-six years trying to realise his dream of being a gentleman farmer, Thelma was making up her mind that she was a failure as a country girl.
A memoir told with great charm and simplicity. Without bitterness or mawkish sentimentality, Thelma recalls a childhood that has now become part of our history.
