The first farm in Western Australia was established at a military outpost at King George Sound. In 1833, the new Government Resident at King George Sound, Sir Richard Spencer, purchased this government farm, known as Strawberry Farm. By 1834, Spencer had added a further 1400 acres of land to the original six-acre holding. (National Trust)
