In 1901, a group led by Lady Madeleine Onslow, wife ot Chief Justice Sir Aleander Onslow, and Dr Athelstan Saw, founded the Home of Peace for the Dying and Incurable. It was built and opened in 1902 on land set aside by Subiaco's first mayor for a hospital.
Since then, the organisation, now known as the Brightwater Care Group, has directly provided care for over 15,000 Western Australians.
