From Tobruk to Kokoda, the amazing story of legendary Australian War Cameraman Damien Parer.
In the heart of war, with battle raging around him, Damien Parer took the photographs that became our history and captured the Anzac legend.
After serving his apprenticeship on Charles Chauvel's classic film, Forty Thousand Horsemen, he was appointed Chief Photographer for the army, covering the Australian campaign in Tobruk, Greece, Syria, and New Guinea. His work in the Middle East and North Africa gained him recognition, but it was closer to home - in Timor and New Guinea - that so many of his classic images were taken.
His documentary, Kokoda Front Line!, was the first Australian film to win an Oscar and brought home to a shocked nation the reality of war on their doorstep.
Previous editions were titled War Cameraman: The Story of Damien Parer and Damien Parer's War.
