Book Description
Secondhand. Very good condition. Minor wear to book corners and edges.
In 1899, 26 civilian nurses formed Australia's first military nursing organisation - the New South Wales Army Nursing Service Reserve. Along with some 30 others who volunteered from other Australian states, these women soon found themselves caring for soldiers wounded in South Africa during the Boar War. Labouring under appalling conditions, they saved many lives.
These women began a tradition of service that continues to this day. (Introduction)
