Secondhand. Very good condition. Minor wear to book corners and edges. Slipcase is in good condition with some wear to corners and edges.
This sketchbook, in facsimile form, dates from artist Julian Ashton's student years in London and Paris in the 1870s. For the most part, the sketches are figure studies that show a variety of body angles and positions, with a decorative quality. From this simple beginning, a successful lifelong career in art developed.
The sketchbook is presented in a slipcover, along with an illustrated companion essay by Dinah Dysart outlining Julian Ashton's long and successful career.
Two-volume set, part of the Australian National Gallery facsimile collection of sketchbooks by Australian artists.
