Secondhand. Very good condition. Minor wear to book corners and edges.
At different times, Selwyn Joynton worked as a teacher, a journalist and an importer of handicrafts, but his comings and goings were always shrouded in mystery. It was as if he responded to others. Even his wife and children were in the dark about the unknown hand pulling the strings. But they had their suspicions, and the reader's suspicions grow too as the story develops toward its tragic outcome. For his family, we can feel pity or sympathy, but what are we to make of Selwyn?
This story is a conundrum without a final explanation, one that returns to the mind again and again, as new possibilities present themselves to answer the many questions left buzzing in the reader's head. (back cover)
