The photographs of John Joseph Dwyer, known as Jack Dwyer.
Dwyer was born in 1869 in Gaffney's Creek, Victoria. In his early twenties, Dywer became a hobbyist photographer, ultimately making it his profession.
In 1890, he joined many Victorians and headed west, prospecting in Coolgardie to raise the money for a photography studio. In 1900, he moved to Kalgoolrie to open a studio in partnership with ED Joshua. It wasn't until 1903 that he had his own studio on Hannan Street.
He became the premier photographer in the Goldfields, capturing street scenes, social gatherings, dignitaries, and mine sites.
