In 1895, the Forrest Government established the Agricultural Bank of Western Australia. It was a lending agency supporting the State's farming industries.
In 1945, the Agricultural Bank became changed its name to the Rural and Industries Bank of Western Australia and became a fully trading bank, becoming a savings bank in 1956.
The R&I Bank and its predecessor played a pivotal role in the development of the State's primary industries and the overall economic development of WA.
