Book Description

Secondhand. Very good condition. Minor wear to book corners and edges.

The story begins with the first recorded rowing race in WA, between two crews from rival whaling companies in 1837, and concludes with the 2007 State Championships at Champion Lakes.

It tells of regattas on courses as disparate as Champion Bay in Geraldton, the Gordon River at Tambellup and Claisebrook Cove in East Perth. It makes mention of the 32 clubs and of the 47 schools, and of more than 1,000 individual athletes, all of whom played their part in the evolution of the sport over the past 150 years.

Finally, it portrays in some detail the belated emergence of women's rowing and its rapid progression toward equal status in both competition and administration. (back cover)
