Jonas Valinskas was born in Lithuania and escaped Europe after World War II to discover a new life in Australia. He arrived in Melbourne at the age of 19 in 1947 and came to Western Australia to work in the 1950s.
He worked on projects such as Woomera, Rum Jungle mine and the Kwinana Oil Refinery. He finally settled, working for West Australian Petroleum (WAPET) for more than thirty years. (back cover)
