The biography of Georgina King (1845-1932) an amateur geologist and anthropologist. Born in 1845 in Fremantle, Western Australia, she was the daughter of a clergyman.
The family moved to Sydney where her interest in natural sciences grew. The talented amateur, however, was excluded by the all-male Royal Society of New South Wales.
She self-published her scientific papers and was an early member of the Women's Literary Society and an original member of the Women's Club. She fought not only for scientific recognition but against intellectual theft of her work.
