Robert Cecil Clifton, grandson of Marshall Waller Clifton, was born in Alverstoke, Bunbury, in 1854. After his schooling, he entered Public Service as a clerk of courts and later as a postmaster at Bunbury. He was married to Rose Louisa Leake in 1882.
He transferred to the Lands Department, and on the introduction of responsible self-government in Western Australia in 1890, he became the Under-Secretary of Lands. In recognition of his 30 years of public service, he was awarded the Companion of the Imperial Service Order(ISO).
Robert Cecil Clifton was a noted organ builder.
This book is illustrated throughout and has extensive genealogical tables for the Clifton and Leake families.
