A personal account of Max Grace's formative years in Guildford, Western Australia, spent at Ercildoune, in Swan Street from the early 1900s.
It is a portrait of life in the early years of the 20th century in a country town on the fringes of the metropolis, now incorporated into it. The customs of the time, rather than history, have been the author's prime interest, but this is nevertheless a work of historical value. Many of the photographs have been included merely as a visual record of the type of clothing worn and add interest to this charming book.
