A selected study of businesses ranging from the 1890s up to 2010 in the Town of Vincent in the inner Perth Metropolitan area, based on photographs, memoirs and interviews, combined with general research.
The Town of Vincent was created following the 1994 split of the Perth City Council into four separate municipalities. Bordering the City of Perth on its southern boundary, the suburbs of the Town include Highgate, Leederville, North Perth, Mount Hawthorn and part of Perth, Mount Lawley, East Perth and West Perth. These represent some of the earliest suburbs to develop after Perth's settlement and contain a rich heritage.
The book is divided into the suburbs of Vincent, each introduced by a general history of its development, followed by individual entries displayed street by street. At the beginning of each suburb, there is a map showing the area's boundaries and the locations of each featured business..
