Donald Gordon "Don" Barwick (1914-1998) was born on 1 June 1914 in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, the son of May Barwick and Albert George Barwick.
His autobiography is also a local history of Tamworth, NSW. Apart from details of the Barwick family from 1880 to 1990, there are in-depth descriptions of farming life in the 20th century. Barwick describes his youth, school, and many aspects of country life.
Don Barwick was a senior figure in the Wheatgrowers Union and a crusader for the establishment of the Australian Wheat Board, and was an advocate for price stabilisation to protect farmers from international grain companies and the international wheat Boards' anti-competitive practices.
