Simon Chauvel and his family, Huguenots, immigrated from France to England in 1685. Charles George Temple Chauvel (b.1798), direct descendant in the sixth generation, married Marianna Gonpertz in 1825, and in 1835 immigrated from England to Narrangrass, New South Wales. Descendants lived in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and elsewhere.
