Yidumduma Bill Harney is the son of writer William Edward Harney and Ludi, a Wardaman woman. He was born in 1936 at Willeroo Station, in the bush, under a paperbark tree.
Yidumduma Bill Harney had little contact with his father. Instead, he was brought up straddling both heritages, learning both traditional Aboriginal and white man's ways.
In his autobiography, shocking stories of casual cruelty and violence sit along with tales of the Dreamtime and hilarious yarns of drunken drovers, poddy dodgers and miserable publicans.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers please note that this book may contain descriptions and/or images of people who have passed away.
