The memoir and family history of Fred Bremmer, who was born in 1938 on a farm known as Rangeworthy, 11 km from Beverley. Fred's maternal grandmother, Eliza Ovens, had emigrated with her family to Victoria but later settled at Gwambygine near York. His grandfather John Ross Bremmer purchased The Meadow in 1906. Another property, Noonamena near Corrigin, was purchased by his grandfather in 1922. The Bremmers originated in Scotland and first settled in Victoria before coming to Australia.
