When Ray Martin set out to write Babakin and Beyond, he intended to record what he could recollect of growing up on a wheat farm at Babakin during the late 1920s and the 1930s. But when he had finished, he was urged to continue and record what he did after leaving the farm.
The result is this longer account, covering not only his childhood on the farm but also his early working life and his time in the army during World War II, and concluding with his return to civilian life in 1946. (back cover)
