This book traces Saul Spice from his birth in Sussex in 1789 to his death in Bindoon in 1868.
In 1830, Saul and Sarah Spice and their 6 children came to the Swan River Colony as part of the ill-fated Peel Settlement Scheme. Saul worked as a brickmaker in Perth. By 1837 the family was farming at Upper Swan. After selling 3 blocks of land in Adelaide Tce, Perth, in 1848, they purchased 320 acres of land at Bindoon from W L Brockman, naming it Brockhill.
