This book is in two parts: the first is a history of the townsite of Allanson, and the second focuses on the Allison Bush School.
Coal was discovered on the Collie River in the early 1880s in the locality of what became known as West Collie but was later renamed Allanson. It was later discovered that the townsite was over a coal seam, so a new townsite was founded in 1911, a short distance from the original. The town was gazetted in 1912, and the name changed to Allanson in 1916.
The second part of the book is the history of the Allanson Primary School. The first school was established in 1913 with 27 students. As student numbers increased, the school needed an additional building, which was built in 1923.
