Steele Rudd was the pen name of Arthur Hoey Davis (1868-1935), a comic writer who was once as widely known as Banjo Paterson, Henry Lawson, and C J Dennis. His stories are told with robust humour and rollicking satire, and his characters, Dad and Dave, Mother and Sarah, Dan and Grandpa, are immortalised in Australian folklore.
