John Edge was born in Leicester in 1910. He lived a typical working class life, leaving school early to earn his keep. In 1929, aged eighteen, Jack migrates to Western Australia. He is soon one of the thousands of unemployed men seeking work across Western Australia. During his two years in Australia, Jack travels through the State.

This book is compiled from his letters and reminisces.
