He worked in timber areas including Powelltown, Warburton, and the Ada River, and survived the Black Friday, 1939, bushfires by sheltering in a dugout. Outside the timber industry, he drove a steam shovel, traction engines, and mining batteries. The author of the book is Harry's daughter.
